Neurology Institute of Huntsville
Jeffrey Nguyen, MD, PhD is a board-certified neurologist who recently joined the Neurology Institute of Huntsville. He specializes in Adult Neurology and really enjoys the variety of pathology in neurology.
Dr. Nguyen completed his Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry at Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, MO. He then worked for two years as a research technician at Washington University School of Medicine, one of the top medical schools in the country. Initially inspired to pursue an academic career as a clinician-researcher, he then enrolled in the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine MD/PhD program in Hershey, Pennsylvania, home of the world-famous chocolate. He completed his MD degree and his PhD in molecular medicine and focused on colon cancer biology in 2018.
Drawn by the strong clinical training program and the warmer climate, he moved South to train at UAB neurology residency’s program. It was during residency that he realized how much he enjoyed the clinical aspects of medicine and decided to enter into private practice. What he loves most about neurology is the diagnostic challenge, the variety of pathology, and the connection with his patients. As a resident, in his last year he was nominated for chief resident and also scored 90% on the RITE exam, an exam that neurology residents all across the United States take each year and assesses neurology knowledge, placing him in the top 10% of all neurology residents.
He is excited to join the Neurology Institute of Huntsville and excited to serve the Huntsville community. He strives to provide the best, most up-to-date neurologic care for his patients and wants to help the Neurology Institute of Huntsville to become the preferred location for neurology services in all of North Alabama.
In his free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with his family and exploring all the great activities in and around Huntsville and Madison, Alabama. Dr. Nguyen and his family, in particular, enjoy the food scene, and you will often find them trying out the latest restaurant or the local art or music festival in downtown Huntsville.
